Owen has led a 17-year career devoted to crafting narratives and telling stories in ways that are uniquely suited to the online world, as well as managing some of the Web's best editorial teams. He has written, edited and contributed for a number of publications. Prior to joining ReadWrite, he was West Coast editor of Business Insider and founding executive editor of the Daily Dot. He has held editorial leadership roles at VentureBeat, NBC Universal and Gawker Media, where he notoriously transformed Valleywag into the Silicon Valley’s authority on tech gossip. He also spent several years at Time, Inc. and Business 2.0.
Kabir Kasargod is the Director of Business Development at Qualcomm Life. In his current role, Kabir is driving Qualcomm Life’s global ecosystem strategy & vision by identifying best-in-class developers and ecosystem partners, collaborating with those key partners to drive new initiatives, and defining new strategy related to APIs, apps & services to maintain Qualcomm Life’s position as the torch-bearer of next-gen health. Through these efforts, Kabir has evolved Qualcomm Life’s app developer environments into one of the industry’s most comprehensive API suites. Kabir has been instrumental in developing core mobile solutions that transform the smartphone and tablet into personal health monitors, in garnering key industry awards at CES and CTIA for innovation in mobile health apps, and in helping to expand Qualcomm Life’s invention portfolio in next-gen health.
Dr. Jordan Shlain is a digital health entrepreneur, practicing primary care doctor, writer and respected thought leader in national health policy. He is the founder and chairman of Healthloop, a pioneering digital health company that connects and empowers doctors and patients to track, guide and connect between medical visits in the spirit of improving outcomes and access. He has been named a top 100-health innovator by the popular Healthspottr organization.
Dr. Shlain has been a health advisor to the Aspen Institute, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Optum, Avia Health innovation, UCSF’s center for digital translational science institute and is a medical expert for GLG.
Kate Garrett is the co-founder and CEO of Ciel Medical, a medical device start-up solving major clinical needs affecting mechanically ventilated patients. She recently closed Ciel Medical’s Series A funding. Prior to Ciel Medical Ms. Garrett worked in strategic marketing at Acclarent, and as a catheter development engineer at Pathway Medical Technologies. She has been directly involved in the development and commercial launch of six 510(k) products.
Ms. Garrett has a mechanical engineering degree from Olin College and graduated from the Stanford Biodesign Fellowship for medtech innovation.
Daniel Kraft is a Stanford and Harvard-trained physician-scientist who chairs the Medicine track for Singularity University and is Executive Director and curator for FutureMed.
Dr. Kraft is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics following residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital, and completed Stanford fellowships in hematology/oncology & bone marrow transplantation. He founded IntelliMedicine, focused on connected, data driven, and integrated personalized medicine and is the inventor of the MarrowMiner, an FDA approved device for the minimally invasive harvest of bone marrow. He also founded RegenMed Systems, a company developing technologies to enable adult stem cell based regenerative therapies.
Aaron Sklar is Director of Experience Strategy and Design at Healthagen. He and his team work hands-on with all of the 10 health-tech companies that are part of the Healthagen portfolio. Throughout his career, Aaron has led design teams focused on improving people’s quality of life, health and wellness. Prior to joining Healthagen he spent 14 years at IDEO, an award-winning global design firm where he managed projects for more than 50 international organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control and the federal government. Aaron has been published by the Rockefeller Foundation, GOOD magazine and in the HIMSS book Engage!.
